Jackets for Jobs statement on
Racial Injustice-Black Lives Matter

Dear Jackets for Jobs Supporters and clients,

We at Jackets for Jobs (JFJ) hope you are all staying safe and healthy.  The last few months have impacted our community tremendously.  We wanted to take time to let you know that all of us at JFJ are thinking of you, your families, and the Detroit community in this time of uncertainty.

The convergence of frustration from the virus combined with the powerlessness our African American community is feeling has complicated matters and escalated quickly. We are now dealing with two pandemics.

We hope that through compassion, understanding and radical humanity, our Detroit community and the world can heal and unite stronger.  Please know that you can use Jackets for Jobs’ to lean on during these difficult times.

We are disheartened by the results that have come from police violence that have erupted in the wake of the recent murders of Ahmaud ArberyBreonna Taylor, and George Floyd.

We are committed to anti-racism in our effort to build a safer, more secure community for all people. We stand in solidarity with the Black community and are united in the fight against systemic racism and anti-Blackness, in the US and elsewhere.

Black lives matter.

Sending you warm and healthy thoughts,

Alison Vaughn, CEO
